Chemistry Nobel Prize 2011

Congratulations to Dan Shechtman who has been announced as the winner of the 2011 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.  He is a researcher at Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel and the prize has been awarded for his work surrounding the discovery of bizarre structures are now known as "quasicrystals".




 


Professor Shechtman receives over £900,000 in addition to the honour of the actual award!

Some new ChemSchool resources for GCSE, AS and A2 chemistry have been loaded onto the TES website in the 'chemistry resources' section.  Sign up is needed at www.tes.co.uk to access them.

ChemSchool has begun the process of uploading some initial GCSE chemistry resources to the TES website.  Many more are to follow shortly, including AS, A2 and IB chemistry resources.  Stay tuned.....

2011 is International Year of Chemistry and is aiming to get young people more engaged and encourage interest in chemistry.


Sounds like an excellent plan... one which we will be helping to achieve in the coming months!!  Keep a look out for our material as it gets rolled out across the website.
